Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet store-bought puff pastry or homemade pastry dough
- 3 large apples, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- For the glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1-2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the pastry on a floured surface to fit your baking sheet.
- In a bowl, toss apple slices with sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly over the pastry, leaving a border around the edges.
- Fold or fold-over the edges of the pastry if desired, then brush the edges with beaten egg.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Meanwhile, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, vanilla, and enough milk to reach desired consistency.
- Once baked, let cool slightly, then drizzle with vanilla glaze before serving.
Notes
Ensure apples are thinly sliced for even baking, and adjust sugar levels based on apple sweetness. For a richer crust, brush with egg wash before baking.
