- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup apple cider
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Fresh apple slices for topping
- Caramel glaze (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In a separate large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Mix in vanilla, then alternately add flour mixture and apple cider, beginning and ending with flour.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Arrange apple slices on top of the batter.
- Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Drizzle with caramel glaze if desired and serve warm or at room temperature.

- The cake can be stored covered at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerated.
