Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (240 ml) melted unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup almond flour or coconut flour (optional, for added texture and flavor)
- Chocolate chips or chunks (optional for extra fudginess)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter and sugar. Whisk until smooth.
- Add eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, sift together cocoa powder, salt, baking powder, and flour (if using).
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips if desired.
- Preheat your waffle iron to the appropriate temperature. Lightly grease the plates.
- Pour batter into the waffle iron. Close and cook for about 4-6 minutes until crispy outside and fudgy inside.
- Carefully remove the waffles, let cool slightly, and serve with toppings of your choice.
Notes
- Ensure your waffle iron is properly preheated for even cooking.
- Do not overfill the waffle maker to prevent overflowing batter.
- For extra fudginess, add more chocolate chips or chunks.
