- 1 large head of cabbage
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil for cooking
Instructions
- Core the cabbage and blanch the leaves in boiling water for 2 minutes until pliable. Drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, sauté chopped onion and garlic in olive oil until translucent.
- In a bowl, combine ground meat, cooked rice, sautéed onions and garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Wrap a portion of the meat mixture in each cabbage leaf, folding the sides to secure.
- Place the rolls seam-side down in a baking dish, pour tomato sauce over the top.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30 minutes until cooked through and sauce is bubbling.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, substitute meat with lentils or mushrooms.
- You can prepare these rolls ahead and refrigerate before baking.
