  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully peel individual cabbage leaves and blanch them in boiling water for 2 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic until translucent.
  3. In a bowl, combine ground meat, cooked rice, sautéed onions and garlic, salt, and pepper.
  4. Place a scoop of the filling onto each cabbage leaf and roll up, tucking in the sides.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread some tomato sauce in the bottom of a baking dish.
  6. Arrange cabbage rolls seam-side down in the dish. Cover with remaining tomato sauce.
  7. Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes until heated through and sauce is bubbling.
