This homemade butter chicken is a rich, flavorful dish featuring tender chicken simmered in a spiced tomato and creamy butter sauce, perfect for a satisfying dinner.

  • 1 lb boneless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1 can (14 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken and cook until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add remaining butter and sauté onions until translucent.
  3. Add garlic and ginger; cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in tomato sauce, spices, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes to blend flavors.
  5. Return chicken to the skillet, stirring to coat with the sauce.
  6. Add heavy cream and cook for another 5 minutes until creamy and heated through.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with steamed rice or naan.
