Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/4 cup ice water
- 4 medium apples, peeled and diced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare pie crust by mixing flour, salt, and cold butter until crumbly, then add ice water to form dough. Chill for 30 minutes.
- Roll out dough and cut into small circles for mini pie bases. Fit into muffin tins and set aside.
- In a bowl, toss diced apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and salt.
- Spoon apple filling into each crust-lined cavity. Cover with remaining dough cut into strips or circles to form a lattice or top crust.
- Seal edges and cut small vents on top. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly before removing from tins. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Use tart apples like Granny Smith for best flavor.
- Chill the dough to prevent shrinkage during baking.
- Brush tops with egg wash for a glossy finish.
