Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package of store-bought croissants (about 6-8, cut into pieces)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk or heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
- Fresh berries for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease your baking dish. Tear the croissants into bite-sized pieces and evenly spread them in the dish. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the croissants.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth. Pour this custard mixture over the croissants and chocolate.
- Gently press down with a spatula to ensure croissants soak up the custard. Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes until golden and set. Optional: broil for 2-3 minutes for a crispy top, watching carefully to avoid burning.
Notes
- Use high-quality semi-sweet or dark chocolate for enhanced flavor.
- Chopped nuts or caramel bits can be added on top before baking for extra texture.
- Prepare the bake the night before, refrigerate, and bake in the morning for a quick, fresh breakfast.
