A rich and creamy garlic potatoes au gratin layered with roasted garlic, cheese, and herbs, baked to perfection for a comforting side dish.

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, roasted and minced
  • 2 cups shredded Gruyere cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. Arrange a layer of sliced potatoes in the dish.
  3. Sprinkle with roasted garlic, herbs, salt, and pepper.
  4. Pour some heavy cream and sprinkle with cheeses.
  5. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • For an extra crispy top, broil for 2-3 minutes at the end.
  • You can substitute Gruyere with cheddar or mozzarella.
