- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3 cups peeled, sliced apples (Granny Smith or Fuji)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press half into the prepared dish to form the crust.
- In a separate bowl, toss sliced apples with cinnamon, brown sugar, and nutmeg. Spread over the crust.
- Mix remaining crumb mixture and sprinkle evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden and bubbly. Let cool before slicing.
Notes
- You can substitute other tart apples for a different flavor profile.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
